Hello

My HP desktop ( Windows Vista ) was not booting up. At start up i pressed F11 and the system recovery software came up. I took a gamble and used it, thinking it won't affect my personal files such as important photos and documents. It did. It basically set it to factory setting. Is is possible to get at least my photos back, if not all my files? The computer does have two partitions, C drive and recovery D drive. Will my files be there in recovery D drive, if so how do i use it? Otherwise is it possible to restore my computer to some other date, will that work.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

It sounds to me you used the recovery feature that comes with a prebuilt system and not the recovery option that appears from Windows. You will not be able to use system restore since you have installed over your previous installation but you could use file recovery software and attempt to find the files that way.
