Asus M5a97 R2 vs. M5a99fx

I decided to change out my Msi motherboard. Of the two boards in the title, which would you go with for an 8350 cpu? Is the 99fx higher price necessary?

If u wanna overclocking and push the freq very high, go with 990fx/990x (M5a99fx);

but if u wanna stay what it is, a 970 mobo is fine (Asus M5a97 R2).

I mean, u can still OC but 970 couldn't handle extreme/enthusiast overclocking. (If u just OC to the 4.2-4.3Ghz 970 mobo is fine, if u wanna try 4.6 to 5.0 should at least get 990fx mobo to provide stability support, and also a good CPU cooler)

I think I might meet in the middle and get a m5a99x instead since I dont see myself using 4 videocards in xfire. Good idea?

Yes, 990 series usually having more phase count, which is mean more overclock capability than 970 series.

990FX supports multi-way crossfire/SLI, however, if don't wanna need that, u could go for 990X if u still want overclockinh.
