We used to have a home phone modem and an internet modem, and we we're having issues with the phone so we called TWC and ended up telling us we dont need 2 modems. Today my dad connected the internet modem with the phone modem and got rid of the internet modem. When my dad was done combining them I have been having connection issues. I currently use a Belkin N150 wireless USB adapter for my use of the internet. It will give me 4-5 bars for connection but sometimes it just wont load anything on my browser or let me play online games but it still says I'm connected. No yellow triangle or anything. I've done speedtests and it gives me sames speeds as a i had before. Question is... Is using a combined home and internet modem going to crap on my internet connection and is it a smart move to combine them together?

Solution
If you can use a oc and log into the combined modem tat the cable company just gave you. Make sure it firmware is up to date and check the modem settings. It may have some settings on right now that capping the bandwidth or sites you see. (family filter may be on).

Well as far as I know we don't have anything capping our bandwidth and we have no family filters
