A few days ago we had a storm during this my router went out so I had to revert to an old one now im getting a network cable uplugged and when I check for my IP it just tells me Media disconnected, I went and got the same router I used before to see if it would fix the problem, but it's still telling me the network is unplugged the wireless works fine on every other computer in the house but my main dekstop (which doesnt have wireless) isn't working, what could the problem be and how can I fix it?

Solution
Im guessing you tried all the routers ports. Try choosing the setup a new network option if it doesn`t work, look up how to setup your particular router.

try downloading the latest drivers for your ethernet port. putting them on a USB stick.
Next uninstall the PCs current drivers. (This will disable the ethernet port as it wouldn't have any drivers, NO INTERNET ACCESS)
Plug the USB containing the newest drivers, Install.

I just tried that.. still nothing still says a network cable is not properly plugged in or broken... this has to be the most frustrating thing I've delt with considering it was working earlier... sigh
