I am looking into buying a Blu Ray drive for my desktop, and I have a couple things I want to know first, but am having trouble finding out. First, does a Blu Ray drive also read/write DVDs and CDs, like a DVD drive works with CDs as well? Second, while looking around the internet, I see a lot of talk about the hardware needing to be HDCP compliant. How do I know if my monitor and my graphics card are compliant? I have an Acer P215H monitor currently using a DVI connection and an AMD Radeon HD 6770 graphics card. Any help would be appreciated!

I can tell you for sure that MOST blu-ray drives also support reading/writing DVD/CDs, though it is dependent on the drive you get. To figure out if it does, just look at the speeds of the drive, if there are DVD/CD read/write speeds then it supports it.
As per HDCP, I am not of much help. I can tell you that a 7950 is HDCP compliant as well as a Dell U2312 monitor going through DisplayPort b/c that is what I use, but that's all I have for you there.
Good luck.

xcrossroadsx: Thank you for the help with the blu ray drives!

SR-71 Blackbird: that website didn't have the specific details for the components I have, so I searched on the AMD website for the details of my card, and it told me that my DVI port supported HDCP. Thanks for the point in the right direction!
