Sounds like something in the power supply chain. Exactly what? No idea. Cable, the actual PSU, the motherboard...
Could be a lot of things. Could be as simple as a blown fuse.

Ok, I just ripped apart my Gateway ZX4951. I was having a black screen issue. But I was getting power. It ended up being the HDMI cable was loose. As you can see, the HDMI cable is plugged into the motherboard. The other end of that plugs into another card inside the computer. The HDMI cable was loose. I pulled that out and plugged it back in. That's all it was.
