So, I'm trying to downsize my hard drive so I can clone it onto my SSD. I downloaded treesize to help me locate my files that I need to copy and/or delete. At this moment treesize says that I have about 90gb on my hard drive left, yet if I click on properties of the c drive, it says 258gb. Now, if I click on each folder inside of the c drive, it all ads up to 90gb.

Any suggestions?

P.s. I just looked and even though when I scan the c drive with treesize it says 90gb, at the bottom it says I have 670 of 930 available. (And fyi, I've been rounding, in case you see that all my math doesn't match perfectly)

p.p.s. I' trying to give as much info as possible and want to add as I come up with stuff. My system restore folder is supposed to be set at only a few hundred MB. So that doesn't help account for the 170 miss GB.

Just noticed that tresize cannot see how big the system volume folder is.

It won't account for the whole difference, but your hibernation file, swap file, and restore points can add up to quite a lot.

To minimize your install for now, disable hibernation by opening an elevated command prompt and typing:
powercfg.exe -h off Not only does that turn off hibernation, but it also deletes the hibernation file, which turning it off in power settings does not do.

The swap file and restore points can be turned off in the system control panel, advanced system settings, under the advanced and system protection tabs.

I would also download and install ccleaner free version from HERE to clear out all temp and caching files.

Then reassess where you are on space.
