Will this build work, and are my components at their maximum potential?

Intel Core i5 4670k (Haswell)
MSI Lightning GTX 770
MSI Z87-G45 Socket 1150
Samsung 840 Series 120GB SSD
WD Black - 1TB HDD
Corsair 120mm H80i Liquid CPU cooler
Corsair Vengeance 8GB RAM 1600Mhz
Corsair 2013 GS800W PSU
Zalman Z9 Case
Then a cheapo Samsung DVD writer.

My budget is about £1000 and I know I'm just going over but I want to know what changes I could make to the build to optimise/increase performance for around the same price.

Quick question, is my PSU overkill? DO I need 800w or could I lower it a bit?

Also, is the 770 lightning better than the 7970 lightning? Or are they pretty similar?

Stick with the 770 , the PSU is a good choice.
