Hello, i want to upgrade from r7850, i want to buy gtx760 but friend told me that 770 will be better, but i couldnt run it on max with my i5 3450. Idk what to buy now, 760 or 770? Thanks.

Solution
If you have the money, definitely go GTX 770. It seems your friend thinks the 3470 would bottleneck the 770 - it definitely would not. This i5 processor is an excellent one and would be a great pairing for the 770!

3450 is still a good CPU! If 770 pushes your budget then 760 is still a killer card, particularly for the price. :D

Screw the bottleneck

If there is one it will be minor .... the over-whelming majority of games are GPU-bound ... not CPU-bound.

Those that are can typically be identified as **crappy console ports** to x86, and it would take a $1,000 CPU to make any significant dink in performance loss.

The i5 will not bottleneck any GPU as far as I'm concerned. It will be absolutely fine with a 770!

Personally, I used to have a 7850. It gave me a horde of problems so I sent it back for a refund. I was looking at 660's/660Ti's, but at that point (around a month ago), the 760 was released.

I now own an MSI 760 and I am astonished by its performance. Much, much faster than the 7850 and offers optimal frames at 1080p. The MSI version has the great TwinFrozr cooling which is inaudible and I have never seen the GPU go above 58c on full load. The EVGA ACX seems like a good bet too, I would have got that but it was not in stock for a long while.

The 770 is considerably faster than the 760. Just becase I own the 760 I will not at all try to stop you getting the 770. I just feel that a 760 is better value IF you are only going to be gaming at 1080p like me.

As for the PSU, Corsair or XFX are the best manufacturers for me. You could get a Corsair 600W or an XFX Pro650W (I own this). Either will be fine, they are both reliable brands. Whatever you go for, make sure it is 80 Plus Bronze certified.
