If i upgrade my cpu do i need to upgrade my bios?

I have the m2a-vm HDMI mobo and im getting a new processor the AMD Phenom X4 9850 BE Do i need to upgrade my bios? My mobo is for Am2+ socket and so is the processor

if you've already got bios version 2101 (or later) then no, you don't need to update it.
if you have an earlier bios version then yes, you will need to update it BEFORE putting the x4 9850 in.
