Alright guys, I've recently bought Corsair H80i to cool my Core i5 @ 4.4 Ghz
I've tested with Prime95 and after around 20-25 minutes it seems like my cpu temperature is around 68-70 degrees Celsius. I'm not sure if that's hot or cool for this water cooler at this processor's clock speed. My MOBO is Msi Z77A-G41

The problem could be that because I haven't put a good or new thermal paste on CPU. I'm currently using the one that is pre-applied, and that is what I suspect to be the issue.

And another is I'm not so sure about the fan's orientation. I've put those 2 fans to blow the air from inside of case to the outside which is basically like this:

<-- |||| <--

(|||| is the radiator.)

Thank in advance guys!

cpu isn't the only thing in the case that has to be cooled. if all you have are 2 fans....one fan in (lower front ) one fan out ( top/back)

do you have the pump connected to the cpu header or to the system fan header on the motherboard? Hope it's the system fan so the pump will run at a steady, faster rate.

cpu goop.................. if you used the pre applied on the bottom of the pump it should work fine. I use zalman super thermal grease........... comes in a small bottle with a nail polish type brush to apply. works great.

i hope you arent joking about zalman thermal paste because its one of the lower end pastes. also to note, you NEVER apply thermal pate on a CPU using a brush. best way to get poor performance as you form micro air bubbles. the pea and the line method should be the way to apply thermal paste.

thanks for the bad advice.

Well, I connect my pump to the system fan because the pump only has 3 pins while CPU header has 4. The thermal paste I'm referring to is the paste on the CPU itself and I'll be pasting the Coolermaster's one soon enough

Could you provide me with reference on how to put on the thermal paste properly

If there was no paste on the pump and you solely relied on the old stuff on the cpu......... shut the machine down and don't turn it on until you can buy new to apply.

the 3pin 4pin................ doesn't matter. if you look carefully at either end........ it can only go on one way. ............... but putting it on the cpu header will cause it to run as if a fan were connected......... throttling with temperature. not something you want with that type of cooler.

troll........... that zalman liquid paste ranks with one of the better I have used. the best being thermaltake white liquid paste they shipped with their heatsinks.

with stock cooling and with the applied thernmal paste on h90.......... 48c max on highest core. with the zalma 38c max on highest core.............. intel 1230-v2 xeon. stock............

I also tried it on video cards with good success but can't give you data on it now.
