Hey all, thanks for your time. I just built my first gaming rig and everything seems to be working smoothly; I have no hard ware compatibility issues thus far and my system is up and running. Here is a link to my build for hardware refrences:

I am using an ASRock 990FX Extreme4 motherboard. I have installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, updated as many drivers as possible using the Windows Driver Update tool, and installed the most recent GPU drivers from nvidia's website for my GPU. I did not update the BIOS beyond I had no hardware compatibility issues and everything is running great.

I wanted to ask about updating the drivers on my motherboard. I installed the drivers from the CD that came with the motherboard, but wanted to make sure I had the most recent ones. So I went to the manufacturer's website:

http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/990FX%20Extreme4/?cat=Download&os=Win764

I'm not really sure what to do from here. It seems like there aren't any chipset driver updates for my board, only updates for hardware output components like audio, USB, SATA, etc. So a few questions:

1. Will any of these driver updates increase the performance of my system? If not should I download and update them anyway? Is it normal for there to be no updated chipset drivers present?
2. After I download the drivers, how can I actually install them? My GPU's driver download did all the work for me.
3. What other sort of driver updates can I download to help ensure performance and functionality in my system, if any?
4. What are some further steps I can take to increase the performance of a newly built rig? I don't think I'm savvy enough to attempt overclocking or anything like that (despite that my hardware may indicate otherwise), but really am looking to get the most out of my system by ironing out any system inefficiencies or making small tweeks for big performance.

Thanks for all your help and feedback!

Usually the drivers from CD is oldest one. If you want the newer one you have to go to the manufacturer website to download.

AMD drivers: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/raid_windows.aspx
Audio: http://www.realtek.com.tw/Downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
USB3.0: http://www.etron.com/en/products/u3hc_detial.php?Product_ID=1
Broadcom Lan driver: http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/downloaddrivers.php

when you install the newer drivers, some will increase performance and some of them don't. But they will let the system run more stable or better.
