Computer doesn't recognize my new video card?

Hi, I have a Nvidia Geforce 6150 LE onboard video card, and I recently bought a EVGA Nvidia Geforce GT 620, and for some odd reason my computer doesn't seem to detect it, I've tried looking for it in the device manager and it doesn't pop up, I've looked in the BIOS to disable my onboard video card, but there's no option for that, only to select what I would like for the primary video input, and I selected PCI-E, I'm stumped and don't know what to do, help?

Are you talking about the VGA cable? If so, I have it plugged into the onboard video card, when I plug it into the new video card, it just gives me a black screen and no signal.

That means that either the GPU is DOA or you haven't properly disabled onboard video.

I've tried disabling it in the device manager, and it didn't work, I've also tried uninstalling it, but that also didn't work, I'm starting to think it's a problem with my mobo or something.

That's your problem. You're supposed to use the BIOS for all of that.

The thing is, I can't find an option for that in my BIOS, i'll post a picture to show you.

I had the same problem as you.

Try putting the graphics card in a different PCI slot (if your mobo has more than 1). That fixed it for me, and the card worked fine. Not sure what the problem was though, as now I have a new graphics card and it works fine in the same PCI slot that didn't work with my old one.

If that still doesn't work, look in the BIOS and try the on board graphics on AUTO as well as DISABLED. I tried setting mine to disabled and that didn't work, but it worked in auto.

If all that fails to make the card work, either the GPU is DOA (just RMA it) or the motherboard has faulty PCI slots/is incompatible for some reason.

Unfortunately. I only have one PCI slot. And I can't find anything about onboard graphics in my bios :(

That's a shame.

I would suggest you could upgrade the motherboard. Its BIOS seems very outdated and one with more than one PCI slot and/or more RAM slots wouldn't hurt.

Otherwise, you could experiment some more, perhaps by trying the GPU in different systems. If you are sure it is the GPU, you should just RMA it. If you bought the card from Amazon, you are in luck. Just give them a ring and you can see for yourself why they are my favourite company going!

Lmao, nah I actually got it from Tigerdirect, but you're right I'll probably start investing in a new mobo+cpu combo, considering a new cpu wouldn't hurt either. I appreciate the help guys!

I had the same kind of problem yesterday( I have Windows 10)

• I tried updating my Geforce 660, it failed
• then I tried uninstalling the driver via Device Manager
• My computer couldn't seem to find the Videocard anymore

I tried a lot of things, but the thing that worked for me was:

I Restarted > went into Windows Update > and updated the video driver (it failed at first, but the second time it worked)

Hope this might be a solution to you
