I'm stuck on which CPU to get because I know Haswell is the "next-gen CPU" but I have heard that they OC poorly and run hot... should I stay with the "dead"/outdated socket LGA 1155 for a cooler CPU Temps? or is that stuff about the high temps on haswell not true?
If you have money for a new LGA 1150 motherboard + Intel Core i7-4770k then go for it. But I would waste that money for atleast five years maximum.
Yes but does the I7 4770k run hot?
a little bit hotter than 3770k but i wouldnt upgrade from 3770k to 4770k thats just a huge waste, i would buy 4770k only if it was a little bit pricey than 3770k and if it was for a new build but from 3770k to 4770, nah... waste
Why don't you take a look at the latest Tom's "Best Gaming CPU's" article. Then I am sure you can make your own decision. There is also a recent story on big air coolers you will find informative. Lastly yes the older form factor runs cooler, O.C.'s better and costs less. The latest is not always the greatest. Some of this does depend on your use and what you want the system for. The newer integrated graphics is better.
