Hey, i'm not sure that this is the right place to put my question but I don't know where else to put it.

So this morning I started my computer to find that I could not access the internet, while it was working perfectly fine the night before.

Ever since starting my computer up this morning it has been doing weird things. I tried to use the windows troubleshooting thing, but my computer got a blue screen of death.

I thought that it might be a virus, so I did a system restore to 2 days ago, which didn't solve anything. I have also done a full system scan with avast which came up with nothing as well.

Another strange thing that has been happening is that sometimes i will connect to an "unidentified network" but will have no internet access.

Please help!! Thanks

In Windows 7 an unidentified network error is not terribly uncommon. Which version of Windows 7 do you use, Pro/Ultimate/Enterprise or Home Premium? It usually involves being stuck on an unidentified public network setting. To fix it you need to make it a work or home network.

MS has a fixit tool that might help fix the error, although it is a Catch 22 since you cannot connect to use it -- but you can use the manual method that they discuss HERE.

I followed the manual steps on the page but after the eighth step I got the message "this computer cannot connect to a homegroup"

EDIT: Also I don't know if the reason that im stuck on an unidentified network is because of some setting. Last night it was working perfectly fine and I don't think I changed any settings at all.
