AMD FX 6100 too hot?

Hi,

Im noticing that my CPU is very hot.
I got 2 fans (front and rear) both 120mm.
its really hot right now (outside), my CPU is 27-39 celcius when im doing nothing.
but when im playing a game (LOL, Minecraft) it warm up to 65 max.
i do like to mention that my CPU sometimes goes up to 206 degrees!!.
i dont really know why but i think its a bug :heink: .
what my question is: do i need to buy another CPU cooler? (i have the stock one)

Is your thermal paste applied properly? Did some dust possible get in between the CPU and heatsink? Before going out and buying a new heatsink, take yours off, clean the CPU with alcohol wipes, and re-apply, using a BB-sized portion of thermal paste.

Not sure if you have figured it out but one thing to keep in mind, especially when playing games, is to turn off CPU / core boost through bios. Turn off anything in your bios that will overclock your CPU. When you play games, most of them rely heavily on the CPU and if you have your AMD CPU or GPU on auto overclock/boost then it will overclock those respective parts based on the load. In the case of games, it will ALWAYS overclock.

I disabled my overclock/boost in my bios and my CPU never gets above 50C.. With it ON it shoots up to 65C.

206 is a false reading. As for your other temperatures invest in a good CPU cooler such as the evo 212 where you will see a significant decrease in temps as well as the opportunity to overclock. 65 Degrees is still under the TJ Max of that CPU (so is still classed as a safe temperature). Your Idle temperatures are fine also.
