Most likely faulty graphics.

Hello, I have 1 quick question and what it seems, an endless discussion.
Question: Can i do any damage to motherboard by disabling main (only) graphic card, switch to integrated and use it for movies and such (non gaming) tasks ?
Discussion/issue: Ever since few days ago my screen would freeze (with distorted last frame (purple/pink-ish)) and i would hear the buzzing loop of the last sound. At start it was 1 time a day while playing League of Legends, second day it was every time i played it, but not (3rd day), it crashes at every need of animation. At desktop it works perfectly, but as soon as i open even a browser and try to load a page, it freezes.
I have read numerous posts about this same issue and haven't found the solution ( at least for me) , but i did find something strange that i have not seen anyone mention. If i use Safe Mode or disable graphic card via Device Manager, problem is not present.
Therefor , i suspect it's graphic card just "passing away". No changes were made (both hardware and software) lately.
To respond to generic question regarding this kind of issue.
Pc is clean of dust, all the fans are working, i have tried reconnecting all hardware again, reinstalled drivers, rolled back drivers, and i honestly doubt its overheating since neither CPU or Graphics are (or ever were) overclocked, also, I have tried turning off vertical sync, gamma correction and other graphic-related options at Nvidia Command center.
Only thing that comes to my mind is finding another graphic card and testing it on this PC. Any of you got other ideas ? I'm aware that graphics are very outdated , but i hope that changing it is not as urgent as i fear.
CPU AMD Athlon II X3 450 @ 3200Ghz
Graphics Nvidia 8500gt 256mbit ram
RAM 4096mbit
Power Supply 500W
For motherboard I'm not sure. All i know that it's Asus and M3+ Socket.
Thanks in advance.
