So I just bought a 2nd hand GPU HIS HD 7850 from my friend at a bargain price. He just used it for about four months and he had no problems at all. He just lives next to me so I know that he takes care of it. It work's well also at his comp. I upgraded from an HD 6670.

Not yet sure if it's with my psu or my mobo. I just installed it and the pc powers on but the mouse, keyboard and monitor doesnt as if it isnt connected.

PC specs.

Intel i5-3570
Intel DH77EB
8gb Ripjaw Gskill
Seagate 1tb hdd
Cougar ST 500 watts psu

Recap:

When I press the power button on the pc, it powers on all the fans, cpu, gpu fan, and the fans of the case but the monitor, keyboard and mouse doesnt power on.

im thinking its the power supply more than anything. if its in warranty get it replaced for a different one if possible.

↑ I've have done that earlier sir.

I inserted my gpu, powered it up the pc powers on but no go with the monitor and other peripherals. Closed the computer, removed the battery to reset the cmos still does the same thing.

EDIT: for some questions I'm not sure if this is true or not - http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/361313-28-7850-cougar-st500
if that is true then the culprit might be my power supply and I may have to bring it to the store tom.

do you have a different pc to try the card in to make sure it has not been damaged, it could be that the psu is defective and cannot supply the needed power.

the 6670 will have drawn far less power than the 7850, i am guessing it didnt even use a 6pin connector either.

We just tested it at his PC and it works fine, though his powersupply is 1000watts but other pc there's none.

You are correct on the 6670 it didnt require any extra power.

So we are kinda down to the two culprit, could be the psu itself (as they say it has good and bad reviews sad to say that I may have the bad one) or the gpu could be broken? Wish not :<

Btw: I unplugged all of the case fans still not working, I am yet to try and unplug the optical drive or cd and check if it will give adequate power to the gpu. Also, do you know any kind of test to check if the 6pin connectors are working?

I will do that tom, Ill go to my other friend and check if the psu that they own will work fine on my rig. If proven I shall return the psu and have it replaced and pick you as the best answer :)
