Im just wondering if the Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H ATX LGA1155 motherboard has a built in sound chip? i need to know if i need to get a sound card for my build.

Yes. Just look at the mobo.

See the ports all the way to the right? Those are for outputting audio.
