asus gtx 680 DCII top

just decided to have a look into overclocking my gpu, from reading a few guides and also other peoples clocks, i increased my gpu clock by 100mhz which is stable. i also increased the power limit to 159% (the max msi afterburner will let me), however when i start ramping up the memory clock, my graphics driver crashes, at this point i have only increased this 200mhz, and from what i have read this is no where near what other people have been getting. Is anyone able to shed some light onto this for me? am i doing something wrong? any help would be greatly appreciated

Solution
The overclockability depends on the manufacturer of the GPU (Gigabyte, ASUS, MSI, EVGA, etc.) Some models may be less suitable for overclocking than others by design. Also the air-flow in your case may not be good enough for overclocking.

airflow or cooling in general is not the problem im afraid, just seems odd, maybe the gpu was boosting too high, i just noticed sometimes it reached 1316mhz, so i dropped down the core clock and getting 1280 boost atm, will stress test it for a while and see if its alright, then try memory clock again

ps my card is the Asus GTX680 DCII Top edition, all the stuff i have been reading is based off this specific card, or just the standard DCII
