I've heard if you de-lid (remove the metal lid on the processor), remove the current thermal compound (TIM) and add higher performance TIM and a higher amount then replace the lid, you will get better temperatures from the CPU?

If so, please tell me how to do this, what thermal compound you recommend.. and please explain how the lid will stay on the processor after you remove it then put it back on...

All help is much appreciated!!

While it's true you can do this, it's difficult to remove the integrated heat spreader (IHS) and easy to damage the processor underneath.

It isn't worth it. To remove the IHS, you need a box cutter, and a single scratch on the CPU beneath the IHS can permanently kill it. Think of how easy that is to do.

Anandtech removed the IHS from the Wii U. He scratch the CPU underneath.
