Difference between two Radeon HD 7870

I currently own a Radeon HD 6770 and I'm looking for a major upgrade, recently I stumbled upon a nice review of said Radeon HD 7870 but have no idea the difference of these two versions:

They have the same price, but one have two fans.
Since I'm looking for a major upgrade, I'm also open for suggestions (although I prefer it to be a Radeon).

This card is the cheapest 7870 on the market, and Sapphire offers excellent cooling on their GPU's.

Also, any difference in speed between any of the cards can be made up through overclocking.

I'll look into these cards more and see which one should be faster out of the box

big no to xfx..
all of their cards usually have a problem about durability, heat etc..

and, if you want 7870 card, take LE/XT version..based on tahiti core, and significantly faster than "normal" 7870 pitcairn core..
Offer same performance with 660Ti, and just slightly slower than 7950 boost.

The difference among the cards with the same model, is the cooling solution. As you can see the other one has 2 fans, the other one has 1 only. Go for the double D. It can be OCed more.

Sapphire XT has been discontinued; not even available from their website.

Wouldn't you rather 7950>7870 at that price range? Sapphire's stock OC 7950 runs only 20USD more than the XT, and would likely perform better especially at 1440p

Yeah, I'm not set on neither the brand nor the card actually.

I'm looking for a big upgrade that I don't need to care anymore for a long time; I don't play ultimate games anyway, but I like to watch ginormous videos and play games, I use multiple monitors as well, so my poor HD6770 can't handle.

There is a Sapphire 7950 that costs only US$20 more? Is the difference in performance perceptible?

Dont get XFX. Alot of complaints that there gpus are faulty and alot of issues.

I recommend sapphire. They are the best cooling solution when it comes to AMD Gpus

I wouldn't say all XFX cards are bad. There low end (6450-7850) is pretty decent. Just stay away from 7870+ cards from them.

I believe a 7870 would be the perfect solution for your needs, but to ensure you don't need something better or to try and save you money with a lower end card, could you please answer some questions?

What CPU do you have?
How many monitors and at what resolution are they displaying?
What types of games do you play? Listing specific games would be beneficial

Hey, sure I can:
1 - I have a AMD FX-8320 @4.0.
2 - Two, both at 1920x1080.
3 - I usually play old RTS games (Warlords BattleCry III, Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle-Earth II) at max settings and some "newer" games like Diablo III, Deadpool, MortalKombat, Borderlands 2, Van Helsing, FarCry 3, Street Fighter IV - Arcade and Civilization V.

Although some of those games are newer and would require a top notch card to run with all settings max, I really don't want to spend too much for those because I don't mind playing on lesser settings. The problem I'm facing with my card today is some stutter when watching 1080p *.mkv, but I don't want to buy a new card just to have to buy another in a couple of months.

the difference is the RED one is a REFERENCE DESIGN. means its the Original AMD-Designed One. and the Dual Mini is the Sapphire Revision of AMD Radeon 7950. It means its Redesigned. Better Cooling. And Better Looks :lol: So its better to get the Dual Mini.
