Hi guys I'm upgrading to a 770 sli solution from my gtx 560 and was unsure if I should get the 2gb or 4gb for a 1080p 144hz monitor. I heard that the 4gb version is pointless because of the 256-bit bus but not sure if that is true or not.

Specs
- 3770k @ 4.2
8gb 1600 ram

many would beg to differ. crysis 3 for example uses more than 3gb vram for triple monitor. Skyrim with large mods can use over 4gb etc. If you look at some Titan benchmarks at high resolutions, you can see when other cards like the 690 run out of vram and all of a sudden the titan with 6gb will pull ahead. Having said that you can always adjust your settings lower to reduce vram usage.

i remember when i bought the 640mb version of the 8800gts over the 320mb version. Everyone said, no games dont use more than 320mb dont waste your money.......BS....next years games had higher res textures and the extra ram meant i didn't have to upgrade for a longer time and could use the higher res texture settings. If you have the money, get the 4gb cards.

I would totally go for the 4gb to be more future proofed but apparently since the 770 is 256bit the extra 2 gigs doesn't do anything

I was thinking the same but I ended up getting the 4gb sli best decision I ever made!! Running crisis 3 on ultra 16x AA using 3gb of VRAM do not get the 2gb!! I repeat do not get the 2gb lol hope u read this in time!

Well, with 16xAA at that resolution on Crysis 3 its no wonder you're using 3gb of VRAM. Use your settings efficiently. IMO anything after 8xAA is just a waste of resources... maybe even after 4xAA especially on higher resolutions.

Do what you will with your toys, just my observation for those looking at getting the 2GB version.
