Hi everyone,
I have a TOSHIBA P750-17L laptop with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 540M I bought in 2012. I haven't had any problems until now. When I click on the NVIDIA control panel it says 'not detected', it doesn't show up in device manager or the BIOS. I've tried a few things from other threads online and still nothing. I even restored my laptop to factory settings and the same thing is happening. I don't know a lot about computers so if you have any suggestions please be kind and make it easy for me to understand :)
Any help is appreciated thanks!

Solution
Short of opening the case and inspecting to see if the cable came loose or the card itself came loose, it sounds like it may be dead. Look on page 87/chap. 19 in your service manual for instructions.

Wait! Your post said Alienware before. My manual suggestion was for the Alienware.

My suggestion is the same. Open the case, find the card, and look for loose connections. Disconnect/reconnect the gfx card cable. Same with the card itself. If that doesn't solve it, I would have to guess the card failed. At least the Alienware had good instructions for disassembly. Not so much for the Toshiba.
