Hi guys/girls

I am planning to purchase a new Mobo and CPU.
I was looking at the Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 990FX Socket AM3+ 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard originally but have read issues with the VRM throttling the FX 8350 down to 3.4ghz (I don't plan to OC) and also read online that the gigabyte mobo would require a new Bios on installation.

So I went for a pricier option and have read numerous posts on the Sabertooth and need clarification:

Does the R.2.0 need a bios update before I can even run a 8350?

Will I simply be able to screw the Mobo to my case, install the 8350 into the socket, add the heatsink fan etc etc and then download/install the latest drivers?

The Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 (R2.0 designation is for Sabertooth...

The Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 (R2.0 designation is for Sabertooth 990FXs supporting Piledriver out of the box IIRC) will work with the 8350 out of the box and overclocks well too. Also, get a Hyper 212 EVO heatsink (Stock one is LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUD). Even if it needs a BIOS update, it will be pre-installed by now.

Thank you very much, I have spent the last two evenings comparing Mobos and I have heard all different users state that the mobo would need New Bios/Flashback Bios on a USB, and others that state it will be FX 8350 ready lol.

I will get a Liquid cooler in the coming months as I will want to have a hand at OC'n

Help very much appreciated :)

No problem ;)
