Can't install Win 7 Pro 32 bit on Ibm 8143-wgu 32 bit? Install disk is fine since I used same one to install Win 7 Pro on an HP Pavilion.

Solution
I managed to resolve my problem by tweaking the registry in the following manner: When I got the error message about the failed installation, I pressed SHIFT + F10 for the command prompt. I then accessed regedit to access HKLocal machine/SYSTEM/SETUP/STATUS/ChildCompletion. I changed the value from 1 to 3 for setup.exe.

When I tried to install Windows 7 on the 8143wgu, more than 75% of the way through the process the system prompted that Windows experienced an unknown problem and Windows 7 needs to be installed again. I can not find a Windows 7 bios for this model Lenovo. It was apparently an M51 model but Lenovo seems to have pulled it from its website. If I can find a Windows 7 bios file to upgrade the 8143wgu PC, I think I can install Windows 7 on this machine

When you are at the install screen, and you are ok with your data on your hard drive being deleted before installing, do this.

At the initial setup of windows, delete all volumes except for the one that says 100MB (if there is one)

Then proceed to install windows on any one of the volumes

I tried your suggestion, namely keep the 100MB partition but Windows 7 32 bit still would not install completely. I also tried a new hard drive but had the same results. In the BIOS, I set the Native Mode from Automatic to SATA and enabled SATA setting. There appears to be know direct setting for AHCI unless such a setting is hidden under Advanced Settings.

Everything installs except at the Completion phase. It goes about 75% of the way, then everything locks up and no action (meaning no flickering) seen on the hard drive light on the base unit. I actually left it at this point for about 4 hours and it did not move at all.
