Hey Guys,

I'm in the process of building out a new HTPC/Gaming Rig and now am curious about building a server to store all my media (movies, videos, pics etc). That said, what are people using for storage (in the 5-10TB range) and what does a good system cost to build.

Thanks

Bryan

I went with the cheapest solution for just data storage. I bought a Cooler Master Elite 120 Mini-ITX case, MSI E350IA-E45 Mini-ITX motherboard/APU, 4GB G.SKILL PC1066 RAM, 500GB OS drive (65GB for OS/400GB for storage) and 2x2TB for the rest. The case has 4 slots for drives, so I have 1 slot open for another, if needed. It's a very lower power solution for just storage/streaming to my HTPC. This cost me around $300, and I built another with the same parts to mirror the data.
