Additional Comments: What I'm really having trouble with it checking compatibility with this old clunker of a tower. I also want to make it more quiet.
Why I am Upgrading: I found an old mid-sized tower in my parent's house the other day. It turns out that they don't use it anymore because the fans suddenly got really loud and it can't connect to the internet anymore. I figured I would take it and replace what parts I can, and use it to tide me over gaming-wise until I save up to build a gaming pc. The games would be pretty light, TF2, minecraft, etc.
Current Parts:
Motherboard: micro-ATX, info below in link
http://
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7500 LE
Memory: 1024MB
HDD: 300GB
Pertinent Questions:
How should I go about cleaning this old rig?
If I want to replace the hard drive, will an OS migration retain all my parent's old data that they want to keep?
