I've been having issues with random freezes and my screen flashing black while playing games etc, originally I was only having my computer freeze.
Infrequent at first, the freezes became much more common. Eventually occuring minutes after startup and even in Safe mode. After these freezes I would reboot and sometimes the fan would ramp up really
loudly and the computer would shut itself down or it would boot without outputting any display.
I replaced my hardrive (Caviar Green 1TB) as I needed an upgrade so I bought the OCZ Vertex and made that my main startup. Everything was fine until my screen would flash black in games, this happens very frequently now and sometimes
Windows will make a disconnecting noise when it does (it hasn't done this for a while though). The other night it froze again just like before the fresh install all though it hasn't done it since. As suggested by some friends I ran memtest for 2
passes without any errors and I disconnected my graphics card/RAM and reinserted them. I also ran the Furmark GPU stress test to see if I could get the screen to flash black or freeze and it did not, The highest the temp I got on the GPU
was 87 degrees and it stayed around 83 with the fan staying around about 37%. It did not flash black or freeze though. I am fairly certain the GPU is what is causing these problems but I am wondering if anyone has some advice
or an idea of what is going on.

Sidenote: My computer also always fails to boot the first time, it gets to loading operating system and restarts and then boots properly. It has done this for a pretty long time and has continued to do so after the fresh install of windows.
It even does it when i boot from say the Windows CD or even memtest on a USB. This is not an urgent issue and I dont think it has anything to do with my issues listed above but I thought I would list it anyways.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Always failing to boot the first time is a real problem. You really have to check all of your devices and make sure they are up to date. This especially goes for the motherboard bios. It sounds like your equipment can't talk to each other. I also wouldn't be surprised if your registry is a complete mess. Make sure everything is up to date and then try to reinstall the system.
