Im planning on building a a6 5400K computer. Problem is there is a huge gap between what i want that is 2x4 1866mhz and the same 1866mhz but 1x4 ram. Would be there a problem or gaming performance decrease?

use only dual channel .. the performance will decrease ..

also how much you want to pay for the system and what parts are you buying?

8GB of memory is what I would recommend for your APU and the highest speed possible. Install the memory in pairs and you will benefit from the Dual Channel architecture. Though, the performance between single and Dual channel is minimal for the user it maybe a lot to the computer (we are talkin milliseconds). Moreover, 8GB is superior than 4GB. Hope that helps.

If you need any memory then let me know your Motherboard model and the budget. Cheers!!

I can't initially speak of my budget, because my little brother and I are saving per parts. currently we have a PSU and Optical Drive. For the time being im thinking of getting the 4GB 1866mhz ram will it be okay? i don't mind games at low settings. as long as it play smooth. but I don't expect it to run modern games smoothly. will it be okay?

Well, one good thinG about RAM is that you can always add more, with this APU and the type of games you would play on it i think anything goes since we are not talking high performance here, how about you try? get 1 4GB stick and see, if you can play with that setup then you got what you need, if you think games are slower than need be then add another stick to get Dual channel performance, or get a low end dedicated GPU that would be somewhat better than your APU graphics and comes with its own vRAM.

But maybe telling your estimate budget will help others suggest better component selection than what you have your mind set to, maybe drop the APU and get a cheap dedicated graphics card or so?

The optimal situation is 8GB RAM if you can not afford that then anything goes, personally i would get 4GB in Dual channel, a cheap CPU and a dedicated graphics card, this will give you an overall better performance in gaming as 4GB in total system memory will be more than enough for the medium range games you could play on that system if you have a dedicated GPU.

Maybe your right. I'm just really scared of getting low performance on what I'am going to build, im 15 years old by the way. I can't even get an Intel core i3. Do you think that an Intel G1610 or G2010 would do? here at my country G2010 cost 2450PHP and A6 5400K cost 2800Php. so if im going to buy the pentium the total would be greater than the APU, Correct?
