What if I move my modem?

Okay so my router is a modem and router in 1 so you just plug a coaxial cable into it and you can connect lan from there. But it also has wireless capabilities and is setup in a very bad place(bottom corner of the house). So my question is, will I be able to move the whole thing, plug a coaxial cable into it, and be set? Or will I loose configuration settings and such. Thanks everyone.

Solution
You can't plug any piece of coax into the modem. It must have the proper signal on it. You could extend the coax that it is now plugged into to any place in your house or follow the present coax back to where it comes onto your premises and re-route the coax from there.
