Hello! I'm building my first computer ever and I'm really excited. All of my parts have wonderful reviews and such but I'm really paranoid about my power supply. It's the only thing that would really blow $1000+ down the drain in one fell swoop. I plan on getting the Corsair HX750 and in the reviews, most of them just stopped working, but a few said the PSU went KABLOOEY! and took a few things with it. Is there anyway I can assure myself I won't have to scrap all my other hardware over a PSU?

abgaut is right. I don't think you'll have any problems with that Corsair. Here are two review from johnnyguru.com for the next step up, the 850. The 750 and 850 are nearly identical in build quality, the 850 just uses a few different components to get 850Watts.
One review is of the current 80Plus Gold unit, the other is of the original HX850.

P.S. I am currently using an AX850, no problems. On the prior build I was using the HX850 and had no problems (Actually preferred the HX cable arrangement).

Reviews are experiences. You may not have what they had. So go for it. HX, TX and AX series all are good from corsair. Do a survey about RMA in your locality. Which ever PSU brand has a better RMA go for it. Corsair and Seasonic both are way to go. Avoid Cooler Master for obvious reasons.

Hi,

In regards to the corsair HX750 i have previously built a computer for a friend using this PSU and to date there has been no problems with it, I am personally using the Corsair HX1000w and i am very happy with it. I have had it for around 18 months and have had no trouble with it at all. Personally i have not heard about PSU's particularly being in the habit of blowing up if they are insufficient, only that they cause random freezes and the shutting down of the computer when they overheat, however if others claim that their PSU has destroyed itself in this manner then perhaps consider another PSU. Personally i do not know of any way you could be sure the PSU was up to mark other then simply judging others reviews (which it sounds like you already have done) and deciding for yourself.

I can only offer my own experience with the Corsair HX750 and 1000 and in both cases i am very happy with their performance.

Good Luck with your build

Luke
