I just purchased the AMD FX-6300 this morning and I am looking for some ideas for a compatible motherboard with overclocking in mind. My budget for the motherboard is about 150 dollars Also please keep in mind future upgrades to an AMD FX-8320 so I will need the motherboard to be compatible with it as well. Thanks

Thanks for your input as I have had to revise my budget down to 150 at the very most. So that board would be out of the question. Any other Motherboards with overclocking abilities for the 6300 and that would accommodate an upgrade later on to 8320 with overclocking abilities and stability. Thanks your input welcome.

My recommendations still stand. One a tight budget, assuming you don't want/need specific features it has, I would probably nix the Extreme9 and get the UD3.

Yeah I have just read some very bad reviews on both of those boards on Newegg.com. So as of right now I am very hesitant to jump at one of them. I did read some good reviews on each as well, but the bad reviews were very bad which is why I feel stuck.

I guess I am probably a little more tolerant of component failure than most, but I usually take Newegg reviews, both good and bad, with a grain of salt. I read through them, looking for reviews with more than "DOA SUPER FAIL!"
Any board can come DOA or fail shortly after the build, it happens with any component. Both of those boards have four "Eggs," as does the Asus. I would suggest this as a read: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/990fx-motherboard-review-amd-fx,3464.html
It's a fairly in depth review of the boards mentioned here so far.

I had the UD3 in my AMD build. It survived a graphics card shorting it out (multiple times), being hauled 1500 miles in my car as I went back and forth between school and home and to friends' houses, and the overclocking I resorted to once it became apparent how big of mistake I had made in processor choice (FX-6200).

My only complaint is that its BIOS was unusually slow (15 seconds or so) and that it only had one USB 3.0 header.

The best two motherboards to overclock an AMD CPU are this and this

I have the second mobo and the FX6300, and because of the excellent quality mobo components such as VRM I have easily overclocked. However they do come at a cost as these are the two best motherboards for AMD Processors currently.

Thanks to everyone for taking your time to give me you opinions on what would be a good choice. I have decided to go with ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS. Thanks a bunch.
