I just reformatted my PC but I have a problem because I cannot get the internet on my PC and when I did the "ipconfig" on the command prompt nothing came up, the local customer care for the internet said it was because of something to do with the formatting. the network adapter is listed on the device manager as 1394 net adapter but nothing more

you likely did not install the lan driver (or wlan) or did not install the correct driver. If it is a laptop, download the driver from the manufactures website. if its a desktop, go to your motherboard's manufacturer website and get it from there

Unless it's a custom PC, you'd want to get the drivers from the PC vendor not the motherboard vendor. You need to install all the drivers, chipset (aka motherboard), video, sound, network, power.
