Hi everyone

Last week i bought a new Asus P8H77-M LE mobo. I used it for a week, but when i cheking the parts, i saw the gpu wasn't completely plugged in. It didn't cause anything but annoyed me so i removed the mobo, plugged the gpu completely and tried to install it but i had to move it a little bit meaning the holes on the case and mobo wasn't exactly matching. Anyway i plugged everyting, hit the power button and then boom something (i believe it a transistor, but i'm not sure) exploded. The fans (cpu, chasis, gpu) was still running, i immediately shot down the pc and removed the motherboard. I gave it to the technical service, they said some pins on the cpu socket was bent.

So here is my question: what did i do wrong? Could cpu, rams or gpu be dead too?

Sorry for misspelled words, looking forward for your messasges !

did you install the standoffs at all? as long as you only have standoffs where there are holes on the motherboard, it should not be a problem if you're missing one... otherwise you may have shorted the board
you broke the "if it's not broken, don't fix it" rule. but it's understandable. however, how do you define the GPU not being "completely plugged in"? also, couldn't you have just pushed it in a bit further instead of removing the whole motherboard?

other than that, maybe you tightened your CPU cooler a bit too much? it's pretty hard to bend pins on a CPU socket, especially if a short in the CPU socket is what caused your explosion.

on a side note, what brand/make is your PSU?

Yeah after this happened i told myself " it was working right, why did i do that. Why did i have to mess with it". It's really annoying

I could still saw the "yellowish line(i don't really know what it is)" of the gpu. I tried to push it, but i think tips of the metal plate (this is where hdmi and dvi plugs are) was touching the back of the case.

I don't think i overthigten anything, i'm especially careful about this matter. There is no physical damage on cpu too and smells right :) I'm using a Xigmatek X-Calibre XCP-A600 psu btw

Were the standoffs installed in the proper positions for mATX?

I don't think i did that right, can this be the cause?
