My usbs aren't working. Before reinstalling windows ( was x64 now regular xp) they worked just fine. Now despite installing all the drivers I can think of I can't get any response out of them. There is power on them as my phone is charging on one as I write this.

The motherboard is an old gigabyte ga-m51gm-s2g.

I tried the solution at this link: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/255982-45-ports-working

And although the option " allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" was ticked, i subsequently unticked it and restarted my pc but with no change.

I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the usb host controllers etc, but also no results.

Any suggestions?

Any device errors in Device Management? Are you typing this on a different computer or using non-USB keyboard? Or does a USB keyboard/mouse work but storage devices don't?

There is only ONE driver for that motherboard, what else did you try to install?
You can try doing a BIOS update, if you did that, try to reset the BIOS to defaults, should be a reset jumper on the motherboard.
