Is this monitor HDCP + 1080p (for ps3)?

Hello guys,

I want to hook a ps3 onto this monitor.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009316

I know that I need to use a DVI to HDMI cable. However, I don't know whether this monitor is HDCP or not. I heard that it needs to be. It doesn't say anything about it on Newegg.

Also, I read somewhere that the monitor needs to have HDMI input to display 1080p for the ps3. Does that mean my monitor won't display 1080p since it didn't have an HDMI slot in the first place? Because if that's so, I'll be pretty disappointed ):.

I'm planning to buy the ps3 soon and need to work these issues out first. I would appreciate any help.

I don't think HDCP is necessary. If you got a cable which is good quality and can connect both your PS3 and monitor then you should (theoretically) be able to play in the monitors native resolution. Obviously you may have to configure it first. You can do this of two ways.

Press the auto button at the side or bottom of your case (if you don't have one then you may have to go into the settings panel)
Adjust the resolution settings on the PS3 itself (watch)-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8HsPQo7OT8

The monitor is HD and its native resolution is 1920x1080 with a good response time of 5ms. You will need to have a cable that can plug into the HDMI port on the back of the monitor to play in its full native resolution. So as you say get a DVI to HDMI cable so that you can play accordingly to this monitors resolution.

There is no HDMI port on the back of the monitor. Only DVI / VGA. I'm just wondering whether this monitor has HDCP (or do I need it at all?) and if not having an HDMI port on the monitor will affect the display of ps3 (720p vs 1080p). Sorry if this is confusing, I'm not that knowledgeable on this.

I hope so... I don't want to buy a ps3 and find out that I need a new monitor ):
