I'm not sure if this is the proper forum but here I go.

My question is very simple; what is the best anti-virus program that is also free?

More about : anti virus free

I usually use Windows security essentials. If you have win 8 you already have it. Of course you can benefit from extra AV programs

Avast! AVG drains resources and is very intrusive from the 4 years I've used it.

The best anti-virus is a smart user.

Don't install milfonmilfaction.exe (kudos to anyone who gets the reference) or random Warez / cracked programs and you'll be just fine.

If you still insist on having an anti-virus, Microsoft Security Essentials is free and extremely lightweight. It is built into Windows 8, so if you have that there's no need for another one.

SpySheriff is the best one free. And if your lucky, it will install all by itself so you don't have to! What a bargain!

Hi friend first of all i give you an advise don't download an antivirus for your PC or Laptop from the net always use an original Antivirus for your computer from your trust-able person because this the matter of your's PC or Laptop's security so be careful.
According to my knowledge.
Avast and AVG are the best Antivirus.

Never install more than one AV on your computer. You can run more than one anti-malware ( malwarebytes, spybot and the like) but never more than one anti-virus.
