I'm moving out in August of next year, and of course, I wanted to have a dedicated gaming rig. I used to game primarily on consoles, but I decided to move to PC. I want to use this PC for PRIMARILY for video editing and gaming, maybe some Photoshop here or there.

My build as I currently have it is this:
Gaming PC - $2007

Motherboard - $160
CPU - $310
Water Cooler - $60
GPU - $380
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 16GB - $150
Case - $130
PSU - $110
Media and Game Drive x2 - $122
OS SSD - $65
BD-Rom Drive - $60
Razer Invicta - $60
Vengeance K90 - $130
FPS Lazer M65 - $70
Gaming Monitor - $200

My questions are as follows

Is upgrading to the 4770k worth it? I would overclock if I could, just ot answer that question.

Can I get a different GPU that would save me money but NOT cost me performance?

Would 32GB Ram increase performance in this build? I originally planned for 32GB Ram, but I took half of it off to save money.

Thanks for helping me out guys! I really appreciate it!

If you intend to add another 16 GB of RAM later get Windows 7 Professional. Keep in mind that Windows 7 Home Premium is limited to 16 GB.

Would the upgrade to i7-4770K be worth it? It's another $30 added to your $2000 PC, i.e. 1.5% extra cost. You get 3.5 GHz instead of 3.4 GHz i.e. 3% extra speed. It's probably worth it if you spend a lot of time editing videos and using Photoshop.

About the graphics card: the HD 7970 is a pretty good card. Its closest competitor from the nVidia side is the GTX 770, IMO. It's close in both price and performance. Try to figure out which of these cards is better in your favorite games.

I know I'm going to get alot of flame for this but I'm actually going to be running Windows 8 Pro, so I'm not really worried about RAM limits.

I asked about the 4770k because I heard it had (in some ways, can't remember them) less "bang for your buck" so to speak, but I see what you're saying.

I'll look deeper into the nVidia side since I don't discriminate XD

Got a CPU that can OC, an air cooler that performs the same as the water cooling (Only expensive ones work any better), faster HDDs ready for RAID, RAM that I can vouch for in their performance in editing, is cheaper, and leaves room for expansion (Quad channel is a myth outside of the 2011 socket), a (debatable) better GPU (Especially if CUDA is used in your programs), a quieter (It's noise insulated on the inside), cooler looking, and cooler case, and I cut down the price by a tiny bit. The PSU you picked is excellent and leaves room for SLI if you want to.

I like the parts list you suggested! Everywhere I go, I see that you're right, it IS VERY debatable on which is a better card. That's really the only things I haven't made my mind up with yet. I do believe CUDA IS used in the programs I will be using, so I'm leaning toward it. Would the new GPU be future proof (I don't want to upgrade once I get into college)

I should also ask, even tho you said the air cooler will work the same as the water cooler, can the same thing be said about overclocking if I ended up doing something like that?

Yes to the question before this one and this one.
