Hi, let me put in the most info I can in bullets (writing this with my smartphone, pc is not working)

- newly built pc (3months ago)
- intel ivy bridge I5 w/hd4000
- asus motherboard p8z77-v
- gigabyte gpu 7870
- corsair cx600 psu
- right now the mb is out of the case, only things plugged to it are ram, cpu, vga to hd4000igp
- no beeps when I boot
- all I see on the screen is tons of white and colored dots that go on and off every few seconds until 2 minutes later the pc shuts down
- when I move components randomly, I get to the post screen.
- switched ram with no results
- if it boots system can randonly freeze and when I reboot I get the dotted screen again.

what could it be? If you say its the graphics then why does it happen to the gpu when its plugged aswell?

Could it be the motherboard?

I also updated the bios with no noticable changes.

thanks

What heatsink are you using? And, is it mounted tightly to the CPU?

Update... now when I start the computer, I see the asus post logo switching immediately to that dotted screen for a few seconds then back to the asus logo on and off.
