Like many, I am a new builder trying to get get the best deal on a motherboard. I have a lga 1150 (i5-4670k), mid haf 912 case, 2x4 gb ddr3 1600 mhgz Ram, 2 HDDs, and a HD 5770(will upgrade GPU soon), 650 PSU.

I would like to know if the board in the link below (MSI Z87-G43) would be a good option for a gaming /general purpose PC. I am not familiar with msi, the posts i've read are not conclusive on the brand. I don't really plan to overclock, the option is nice. I would like just a GPU upgrade to take me through next gen. The second PCie 2.0 slot running at x4 doesn't bother me too much, since I don't plan to crossfire. That is, assuming the 3.0 slot is at the full 16x.

Are there better go to options for the $125 price range? Will I regret this mobo, especially if I will be looking to a 7000s card, case compatibility, etc.

Thanks for your time.

I think I might as well stretch the budget a little bit. With promo, this $135 mobo seems like a good option and may be worth the $20 more than the card you suggested. I like the ports and mix of slots. What do you think? (You, deserve best answer btw. Just want to be sure before I pull the trigger and I can stop looking and mobos ;)  )

you can pick up the i5-4670K and ASUS Z87-A at Microcenter for $309 before taxes.

ASUS Z87-A $110
ASRock Extreme4 $100 making the total $300 before taxes.
