Last week I bought a new laptop, Fujitsu UH572 with Windows 8, with an Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 built in adapter. It has NO ethernet port so I cannot just plug it into the router, which is a Netgear WNR3700 that we've been using for over a year without any problems. My apologies if this message isn't entirely coherent, I'm rather frustrated at the moment ...

The short version is:

- Connected to router without issue, using Internet, downloading stuff, etc. Suddenly stops connecting to router for no discernible reason and nothing I try can get it to reconnect. Even removing & reinstalling Windows 8 doesn't get it to connect.

- Take it to my parents' house, apply all Windows updates, bring it back the next day, and it connects to my router again, problem solved ... for two days. Now suddenly as I was using it, it disconnected from the router and refuses to connect again!

- So the situation is:

1) Laptop was connected to router and suddenly disconnected w/o any perceivable change in hardware or software.

2) Laptop's wireless adapter is on; it sees my router plus many others. There are no red 'x's or anything in device manager, it says it's working properly.

3) Laptop's wireless adapter can connect to my phone's hotspot, so it can connect to things, just not the router.

4) Router is on and functional AFAIK, every other device in the house can connect to it.

5) Laptop cannot connect to router. It says "Checking network requirements" and eventually fails, the tooltip text on the networking systray icon says "Identifying ... No Internet access."

6) I've tried assigning the IP address via the laptop's MAC address in the router rather than using DHCP, but that didn't seem to make any difference.

So it looks like bother are working properly but just won't connect to eachother! Any ideas? :(

So as additional info, I got a tiny USB wireless adapter from a friend, plugged it in, and it connects to the router without any problem. So it seems like the issue is with the built-in wireless adapter, but I have no idea how to fix it because it seems like it's working properly and I didn't change anything, it just suddenly stopped working. :(
