PC Lock up's when playing demanding games

Hey everybody, this is actually my first post on this site but i have been looking around for answers here too, without luck. My problem is that when I play games such as LoL or Natural Selection 2, that at some point my PC just locks up completely, forcing a restart. Mouse and Keyboard become inactive, and the screen is just frozen. Also, the speakers emit a loop of the last sound creating a rather shitty sound. So far i've tried several things and still no luck, any help will be appreciated! This problem is so annoying.

My Specs are:

CPU: Intel Core i5 -2500K
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 560
Mother Board: Asrock Z68 Pro 3
Power Supply: 400 Watt Enernax
RAM: 4GB

Hey, thanks for the quick replies, I followed your advice and played a few hours of gaming with no problems thus far. Ive also updated my Bios so i will et back to you if this problem persists, so far so good!

Hey folks, So i have done multiple testing, followed advice given on here (sorry im late replying... very late..) and nothing works. I have got a new GPU and updated my PSU also. However, it turns out the the issue i'm having right now is related to AMD drivers, and several games, such as Rome total war 2, and BF4 (now fixed). The issue seems to be related to Direct X11, as playing Rome2 with DX9 has no problems what so ever. There are multiple threads from various sources on this topic, just type into Google "amd PC lock up/sound loop". Hopefully drivers will soon get sorted for the various other games which still remain unplayable =(
