Good Morning,

I have a buzzing sound coming from my PC which starts when the PC is under any kind of load. It sounds like a hard-drive but it isn't - it's a similar kind of sound but very high pitched.

I've tried to relay what this sound is like by this video I took. It's taken with an S3 so the mic quality isn't great but if you turn your speakers up a bit you can certainly hear it. You can see I am able to stop the high pitched buzzing by turning on the power-saving mode in the control panel. As soon as I put it back onto high performance the buzzing starts up again. (I turn it back and forth towards the end of the video to highlight this).

Any ideas as to what this could be? I suspect it is potentially the motherboard but I only bought this about 5 months ago.

In case it is relevant:

Fx8120
8GB (single channel)
CX750w corsair PSU
Asrock Extreme 4 990fx motherboard
Sapphire 7750 GPU
1TB generic toshiba HDD

Sounds like coil whine to me. Open your PC, put it under load and then just listen where it comes from. Coil whine is usually only an acoustic nuisance, but it might hint at a coming hardware failure.

I recently switched out my girlfriend's Corsair TX750M PSU for a Seasonic X-Series because of very noticeable coil whine. At least for PSUs coil whine is also a valid RMA reason, so I would try to locate the source and RMA the part that causes it.
