I hope i'm posting this in the right place.

I have an ASUS G53JW laptop with
video card Nvidia GTX 460m
processor Intel Core i5 M 480 @ 2.67 dual core
RAM 4 GB
OS Windows 7 64 Profesional

The problem i'm having is that during games (i mostly play Dota 2 and Guild Wars 2) the screen randomly freezes for 3 to 5 seconds (the sound stops too) and them resumes normally. Also, when i play movies in .avi format (mp4 and wmv work fine), they work fine for a min or two after startup then they starts stuttering, the image and sound freeze for 1-2 seconds, jump ahead and then freeze again.

I've taken the laptop to be cleaned of dust, and usually during games, i clocked a temp of about 75-79 degrees. I've also just updated the video driver and tried starting Windows in clean boot and the problems persist.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

75-79'c is your GPU temp or CPU temp..?

How about your CPU temp..? and your GPU temp..?

Freeze is throttling protection..in order to prevent further damage to your system..

re apply thermalpaste to your graphics card and your cpu usually fix this problem.

also check your harddrive for badsector with hd tune (http://www.hdtune.com/)..
well, bad harddrive usually can make a lagging and freeze the system..

According to SpeedFan, the temps are
GPU: 75-79
HD0: 48-50
Temp1: 50-52
Core 0: 43-49
Core1: 45-49

Since you mentioned throttling, i found a software called ThrottleStop that is supposed to adjust the performance of Intel CPUs according to what you're doing. Could this be helpful?
