Intro: Hello everyone! I have begun my adventure into building a new computer already, and the last parts that are still pending on my decision are the motherboard, processor and possibly an SSD. I will be using my computer mainly for gaming and streaming. My original idea was to buy the FX 8350 and the Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3. However, I have been reading around and have heard that the FX 8350 is't that large of an upgrade over the FX 8320, or even FX 6300. Coupled with that, Newegg has a nice SSD promotion right now and I'd love to take advantage. However, I am unsure how necessary an SSD is for a gaming build. I'm unable to decide whether I want to sacrifice performance for it or not. My current stores are Microcenter and Newegg. Microcenter for Processor and Motherboard, Newegg for SSD. August 2nd is the start of tax-free weekend here and MicroCenter offers $40 off motherboard for an FX processor.

Other Parts In Current Build:
Radeon HD 7870
Rosewill BLACKHAWK
Corsair CX500M 500w
Kingston HyperX Blu 2x4 DDR3 1600
250 and 320 GB Seagate Barracuda Hard Drives

Approximate Purchase Date: July 31 - August 2nd

Budget Range: $300

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Streaming, Skype, Internet Browsing

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade: Motherboard, Processor

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: MicroCenter, Newegg

Location: Brentwood, MO

Parts Preferences: AMD FX CPU

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: 1360x768 and 1280x1024

Additional Comments: (e.g.: Need to have a window and lots of bling, I would like a quiet PC. Please also list specific software or games you're using)

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: To upgrade gaming performance, mainly on Skyrim and Planetside 2. I play a lot of League of Legends and stream it, but my current build is unable to do that well.

Definitely don't upgrade from a 8320 to an 8350 it's a waste of money (not if you didn't have to upgrade)
From the 6300 it would actually be a worthwhile upgrade.

Oh, I'm on an Athlon II X4 640 atm. I'm not upgrading from the 6300. Sorry if that was unclear.

So basically I'm wondering fx6300 + SSD or fx 8350 without SSD.

the ssd will only really make a difference to boot times and will have very little effect on actual performance in games and apps.
the stronger cpu will have a more measurable effect on the overall system performance as far as raw processing goes and you can always add an ssd in a couple of weeks.
