First of all, as always thank you guys on Tom's Hardware for taking time out of your day to help people with their problems. It is something that I never understood why people do this for other people out of the goodness of their hearts, but I greatly appreciate it. Now onto the unpleasant stuff!

This is my second time coming on the boards and directly asking a question. The first time was with regards to building a pc and asking people to give me the most quality pc I can put together for 1200. I purchased everything a very nice gentlemen recommended.

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core ProcessorP ($189.99 @ Microcenter)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU CoolerP ($29.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V LK ATX LGA1155 MotherboardP ($119.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 MemoryP ($64.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 840 Pro Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State DiskP ($139.19 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard DriveP ($89.98 @ Outlet PC)
Case: Cooler Master HAF 922 (Black) ATX Mid Tower CaseP ($82.00 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: SeaSonic 620W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power SupplyP ($88.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD WriterP ($19.96 @ Outlet PC)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8 (OEM) (64-bit)P ($93.98 @ Outlet PC)
Total: $919.05.

Since then I bought a 120hz BenQ monitor for 400 and a gtx 680 for 4something can't quite remember, needless to say it was very expensive atleast for me.
I have overclocked my gtx 680 using msi to +25 core voltage, Max power limit which is at 111. Core clock +100 and Mhz + 500. I never have problems with games crashing or my gfx card getting too hot, it usually sticks around 50-65 while playing games. I don't know how to overclock my cpu but in my bios which I get to while pressing f2 I set my cpu for performance (there being power saving balanced and performance options)

Now I've spent a good chunk of cash on this rig and I don't feel like I'm getting what I paid for. For instance in guild wars 2 on MEDIUM I get anywhere from 30-70 fps. I feel like for the cash I've spent I shouldn't see less then 120. On SWTOR I'm getting anywhere from 80-100 and again, for the cash I've spent this is severely depressing.

While running 3dmark11 basic edition my score is as follows. 9775 with performance better than 81% of others. Also on the side it says my pc is performing properly. Is something wrong gentlemen or am I just not understanding how much cash I need to run a game perfectly smoothly? On both games but more gw2 I encounter frame lag. Both games are running on my ssd.

Solution
Make sure you have installed the latest drivers for your video card from www.nvidia.com.
Download the new drivers, then delete all your old video drivers. Reboot, then reinstall the latest ones.

When I uninstall my drivers windows automatically installs drivers on restart. What I did was a custom install which I imagine deleted my old driver and installed the new one than restarted. My driver version is 320.49

You went and got a 120hz monitor with a lower end cpu and video card. That really requires dual video cards. 120 fps is not for the faint of heart (optimal goal for 120hz). And if that monitor is over 1920 x 1080, that will strain the video card even more.

Note:With a 'normal' monitor, 60hz, the goal for fps is only 60. Something your system could handle.

I didn't realize a 500 dollar gfx card was low end. Perhaps cpu gaming isn't for me then. :<

The other thing to consider is most MMO's (and those two in particular) are not all that well coded and can especially be very CPU bound in larger populated area's with a lot of effects happening at once even on super high-end machines, it's just the nature of the beast with most MMO's unfortunately.

You can refer to this article as a performance reference for gw2: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/guild-wars-2-performance-benchmark,3268.html

A GTX 680 is by no means low end. Nor is an i5. They're both very, very good for gaming. Like the post above me, MMOs usually tax the CPU more because you need to communicate with everyone else in the server. If you were to play, say BF3, sure, you would only get around 50-60 fps on Ultra, which then you wouldn't be using your monitor very much. Usually I would recommend a 120hz monitor for only hardcore gamers who are willing to dish out 400-500 USD for a monitor and more for a second GPU.
