Scan your PC for viruses. Reinstall word2k. That's some pretty old software. If you can't afford a new version of office, try libre office or open office. Both are free and can read word documents... at least newer word documents, not sure about word2k.

Word would not be doing that, it's how you are saving it and where. Need more details about where you are saving things and how you are then trying to open it. Check the file permissions on the directory you are saving it at.
