Upgrading from a 570. Looking to be somewhat "Future-Proof" for next build.

Hello Forums.
Ive been looking into treating myself to a new GPU (Possibly around the Holidays; however if prices warrant Im not opposed to early presents).

That being said, Im looking to upgrade out of my current "Nvidia GeForce GTX 570" [Codename: GF110 v. A1].

Current Computer Build:
Intel i5-2500k
MOBO: ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3
1000W PSU
2 1TB HDs and soon a 250GB SSD

Whats important is that I want to be able to integrate this GPU into my next build should I remake this PC. So I would prefer it to be viable option for the next 2-3 years. :)

Honestly, if all your games are running fine right now, I would postpone the upgrade. You could buy the GPU at the same time as your new build or wait next year to see what happens, but a 570 is still a decent card (unless of course you're having issues with it).

And same thing applies for a new build, I would wait at least one year to see what CPU they will release. Because the i5-2500 is still a very good CPU. 4th generation Intel Haswell aren't much faster and don't justify an upgrade IMHO. You also have the option to overclock your i5-2500 if you want more out of it.

Yes, getting a 250GB SSD is probably the only thing that would make sense to upgrade in your build right now.

And just out of curiosity, why the 1000-Watt PSU? Seems...

And just out of curiosity, why the 1000-Watt PSU? Seems a little overkill for a single 570? Unless you were planning to SLI. Speaking of the devil, instead of replacing the video card, getting a second 570 for cheap and SLI them might make more sense since you already have the PSU to support it.

A very good and logical upgrade from the GTX 570 is the GTX 770. It will probably be a good idea to research exactly which one you want and then bide your time. Keep an eye out for sales, price drops, special deals, game bundles, whatever to make sure you strike at the best time. Expect something to happen in terms of pricing or game bundles in advance of the holidays, and definitely around the time AMD releases the HD9000 series.

Thank you guys.
The 1000W PSU was indeed for SLI for later down the road. It was also 80% off. So I figured why not.
Would you recommend putting another 8GB of RAM into the machine? Its on 8GB now.

Ill look into the 770. Thanks for the recommendation.
