Hey guys,

Basically there's a small part of me wanting to build my own computer, my ultimate gaming rig pretty much. Right now as I post this I'm running Windows 7 on a AMD Phenom II X4 830 2.80 GHz Processor at 6 GB of RAM. This is far from a beast computer, but still pretty respectable for a 4 year old stock machine. I'm considering building my dream computer, but am just looking around and seeing what I'm getting into. This is my rough beginning idea for it, so any suggestions or tips please let me know.

**NOTE** This is by no means a definite idea and isn't guaranteed to happen, so please if you are going to look at what I have to say and put time your not willing to waste on seeing if this will work please don't ahaha.

CASE- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139006&Tpk=corsair%20obsidian%20650d

POWER SUPPLY- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171056

MOTHER BOARD- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131801

Motherboard's are where little lost on. I don't really know the difference between the specs of it so I'm just throwing up a random one I saw was good. Any recommendations of a mid-priced one with no inter-graded video out puts would be appreciated.

CPU- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116501

This processor is what I'm stuck on. If I have to change other stuff, I'd still like to keep it if the build allowed. Now I'm not to sure what the 3770k really means, but I'd like to keep my processor over 3.2 GHz and i7 with the ability to OC.

MEMORY- (32 GB TOTAL) (2)- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231615

I'd like to be at 32 GB of RAM. Now depending on if I decide on another motherboard, will determine if I go with 4 sticks of 8GB or 8 sticks of 4 GB. This is all dependent of how many memory slots the motherboard has. Now obviously the cheaper the better, whether that be 4 or 8 sticks.

VIDEO CARD- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121775

Once again, I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to video cards, so whatever is recommended for a mid range price that has decent specs and reviews is fine with me.

STORAGE- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820168062 (SSD FOR OS)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822178271 (GENERAL STORAGE)

Now as stated I would like to keep my OS (Planning on WIN 7 Home) on an SSD, and keep all the other storage on a 2TB HDD. My question is 128GB enough for the OS? And also any other brands or product that you recommend are appreciated.

OPTICAL DRIVE- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135247

Blu-Ray capability isn't a must for me, but If someone has a cheap one that they they think is good then let me know. I might downgrade to a normal optical drive but that's about it for now.

Well if you actually read all of this and checked it out I thank you, but anything at all, tips, recommendations, advice, let me know!

Thanks So Munch Guys!

-Ryan

**EDIT** So I just carted all of this and its up around $1,800 which is a bit outta my range, so price cuts on what I might get are needed. I'm looking to get around $1,100. Thanks!

Solution
Yes the processor should not bottleneck the 770 at all.
Here's a cheaper optical drive for the same performance: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136259

Since you want to overclock, you'll need an aftermarket cpu cooler.
If you only plan to overclock to 4.0-4.2ghz, the Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO is the best option:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099&Tpk=coolermaster%20hyper%20212%20evo

If you want to go for the 4.5-4.8ghz, the best option is this Phanteks one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835709011
I know the Phanteks heatsink is huge, and the heatspreaders on the RAM will get in the way, so get this...

There are a number of ways to cut down your costs. If you are only going to be gaming on it, there is no real need for an i7 cpu, an i5 is more than sufficient. As it stands, the motherboard you selected is not compatible with your cpu of choice, one or the other (or both) will need to be changed. There is absolutely NO reason for 32GB of memory if you are only going to be gaming. The PSU is way overkill in terms of wattage and I would suggest a PSU from a better company such as Seasonic, XFX, Corsair or Antec to name a few. These are just a few drawbacks to your starting build. Tell us EXACTLY what you plan on using it for and we can give you our ideas as to what would give you the most bang for your money.

Probally BF4, Minecraft (lol) GTA 5 and various other steam games. My motherboard and videocard is where I need a reccomendation... and how much wattage should I look at for a PSU?

Faster HDD at a cheaper price: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148834\\

Better quality SSD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820249024&Tpk=plextor%20m5s%20128gb%20ssd

This is a gaming system. A gaming system only needs 8gb of ram max. Anything above is overkill: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233180

Your cpu and motherboard do not match. The cpu uses socket LGA 1155, the motherboard is socket LGA 2011. An i7 is overkill for gaming
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116899
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128592&Tpk=gigabyte%20ga-z87x-ud3h

Your psu is complete overkill. You will never need 1000 watts. Here's a more balanced one that allows SLI: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207029

Case is expensive as well. Case is a personal thing, so it's hard to suggest one since you have different taste than us. Look at these:
Fractal Design Define R4: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352020
NZXT Phantom 410:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146085
Corsair 500r: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139009

Grab a standard $15 optical drive.

Now that you just saved yourself a lot of money, upgrade your gpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125463

Do you plan on overclocking?

I do like that i5... I don't know why was stuck on i7. And if people could throw me a couple more motherboards that fit the CPU. Can't tell you why but I'm more of a Asus motherboard fan. Maybe because I like their BIOS better... but if I had to go with Gigibyte then I will.

Yea. With me being the noob I am, i probably won't notice much of a difference. Last question, will my CPU be good enough to support my GPU? It seems like its pretty high end GPU so I wouldn't know.

Here's what I currently have.

Also, do you like the looks of the 500r? If you don't like how it looks, there are always plenty of other options.
